Tens Of Thousands Of People Are Still Homeless After Typhoon Hit Philippines

Beijing, November 18 (Xinhua) comprehensive report, the typhoon "Huangao" recently hit the Philippines, bringing strong winds and heavy rainfall, causing dozens of deaths and damaging a large number of houses, farmland and facilities. Hundreds of thousands of people are still homeless in the Philippines. President duterte will order the establishment of a task force to speed up the post disaster reconstruction work.

At least 73 people have been killed, 24 injured and 19 missing in the Philippines due to typhoon "Huangao", the deadliest of the typhoons that hit the Philippines in 2020, it was reported. More than 3.05 million people in the country were affected by the disaster, and many places were in a state of disaster due to floods caused by typhoon, mainly concentrated in Luzon Island, the most densely populated island in the Philippines.

At present, "Huangao" has been away from the Philippines for five days, but as of the 17th, hundreds of thousands of people are still homeless in the country, with more than 280000 evacuating shelters and more than 150000 staying outside.

Philippine President duterte will issue an executive order this week to set up a large task force to speed up the reconstruction and rehabilitation work after the destructive weather disturbance, the Philippine Star reported on the 18th.

Philippine presidential spokesman Harry Locke said details on the creation of a reconstruction working group are being worked out.

Aides close to duterte also confirmed that preparations were being made for an executive order.
