Xinhua news agency, New Delhi, December 5 (Xinhua) at least 10 people have been killed by torrential rain in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu, according to Indian media reports.
The report said the causes of death included electric shock, drowning and house collapse.
27391 people, including 4873 children, have been evacuated and transferred to the rescue camp, the report said. More than 200 houses collapsed, a large number of livestock died and tens of thousands of hectares of crops were damaged.
According to the forecast of the local meteorological department, the low pressure over the Manar Bay in Tamil Nadu will continue to weaken and move towards the southern part of Kerala within 12 hours.
